Both Boys and Girls Team Wins Respective Title

The Girls Indoor Track Team won the Mountain Valley Conference Valley Division Championship for the first time in the history of the girls program.

Sophomore Ines Simoes led the way for the RC girls, turning in a distance triple for the second straight year by winning the 1,600 (5:50.67), 800 (2:27.88) and 3,200 (12:26.23) to lead her team to a 98-74 victory over New Providence in the Valley Division.

Senior Captains Naima Graham and Gabby Mesaros finished 1-2 in the Shot Put to further help the girls to the MVC Championship, which ended New Providence's streak of seven straight Valley Division crowns. Last year, Roselle Catholic finished second to New Providence.

The Boys Indoor Track Team won the Mountain Valley Conference Valley Division Championship for the 3rd time in 6 years .

Seniors Vinny Nicastro, Tommy Masko and Travis Boscia took turns winning the 1,600, 800 and 3,200 as they went 1-2-3 in each race to account for 72 of Roselle Catholic's whopping 151 points. Masko won the 1,600 in 5:14.49, Boscia the 800 in 2:16.16 and Nicastro the 3,200 in 10:26.57.

Senior Garfield Morgan took first in the shot put with a 42-4½ for RC, Darryl Sessoms won the 400 in 56.34 and was fourth in the 55 dash, and Steve Bradford won the 55 dash in 7.20 and was third in the 400. Sessoms and Bradford also ran on the winning 4x400 (3:56.86).
