Skrec, who was named The Star-Ledger Union County Girls Basketball Player of the Year last winter, became the fifth player in school history (boy or girl) to reach the 1,000-point milestone in the victory over Gov. Livingston and now has 1,078 career points.
At this point in the season, Skrec has scored 231 points and takes an average of 21.0 points per game into Thursday's 4 p.m. game against undefeated New Providence. Roselle Catholic is #14 in The Star-Ledger Top 20.
After RC’s big win over #5 Piscataway, Skrec said, "We had a really tough loss to Cranford, but we wanted to put that behind us and not focus on it. We just went out and played our game. It was a real good win."
On scoring 1,000 points, she had this to say, "It's still a little surreal. It's a great accomplishment, but right now I want to put it behind me and concentrate on the rest of the season.. It's not something I go out trying to do. We have a real balanced team and I'm lucky that I have teammates that get me the ball a lot."
