RC Girls’ Defeat Roselle For 2nd Consecutive UCT Championship

Allison Skrec, the reigning Union County Girls Basketball Player of the Year, tossed in a career-high 33 points and added seven rebounds and five assists in one of the greatest UCT championship game performances in history. Skrec had 12 of her 18 second-half points in the third quarter and hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.

The Lady Lions took a 65-58 lead with just under 3:00 to go in the fourth quarter, but Roselle, which fell to 19-6 - and 0-4 against RC this season, connected on back-to-back 3-pointers and used a 8-0 run in the blink of an eye to take a 66-65 lead with under two minutes left.

RC’s Anthonia Ajumobi then scored after taking a pass from Skrec with 1:40 left to give the Lions the lead for good, 67-66. Roselle missed its next shot, and Ajumobi hauled in the rebound. Skrec was fouled with 50 seconds left and made both free throws for a 69-66 lead.
