Mary Kathleen Schumacher is a proud graduate of Roselle Catholic, named Salutatorian of the Class of 1986. She began college early, winning scholarships to attend St. Peter’s University during the summers after sophomore and junior years. She then attended Seton Hall University, double majoring in English and Secondary Education and working in Biblical Archaeology. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1990 with a Bachelors of Arts in English and was awarded the English Department Award for highest GPA; she also earned her New Jersey Teaching License after passing the National Teacher Exam.
Mary K. taught at Marylawn of the Oranges (South Orange) for six years and the Academy of the Holy Angels (Demarest) for three years prior to joining the Roselle Catholic faculty in 1999. She also taught summer school for thirteen years at St. Mary/Archbishop McCarrick High School in South Amboy and for seven years at Cranford High School. She is currently active as a tutor for all levels of English and for SAT and ACT test preparation.
Mary K. is the proud mother of three Roselle Catholic graduates: Jeff (2011), Matt (2013), and Zach (2015). Any time spent with her sons is invaluable, and she especially enjoys attending concerts with them.
Mary K. is enamored of reading and admittedly cannot get through the day without enjoying the printed word. She has a passion for dolphins and spends time each year with cetaceans in Florida.
