Roselle Catholic is now proud to offer the opportunity for the longest lasting, most impactful opportunity to future students of RC by incorporating Endowed Scholarship Funds to our Development Office offerings. An Endowed Scholarship Fund may be set up in honor of any individual, family or group (living or deceased) and are the best way to honor a person/group in perpetuity.

These Endowed Funds must have a goal and reasonable plan to reach $100,000 in principal and be housed with a financial institution that can execute the investment of that principal and distribution of the allotted percentage of funds annually. Roselle Catholic can offer the services of our investment team at Ameriprise Financial if group setting up the Endowment chooses to use our preferred financial institution.

GERALD "JERRY" KING '66

In December 2021, Roselle Catholic lost one of its most prestigious alumni when Gerald “Jerry” King, Class of 1966, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara, their five children and spouses, and 15 grandchildren: Danny, Lindsay, Julia, Dylan, Connor, and Chase King; Kristen, Jimmy, James, Andrew, & Elizabeth Cullen; Carrie, Charlie, Schuyler, Cecilia, and Tate Dean; Mary Beth, Jeff, Geri, & Neely Dziedzic; and Meghan, Ben, Robert, Emma, & Henry Merris. Jerry’s brother Willis and his wife Nancy, his sister-in-law Ann Ross and her husband George, as well as several nieces and nephews, also share in this loss.

Jerry was a devoted father and coach to his children, a best friend to Barb, a beloved Grandpa, a steadfast Yankees fan, a lover of red wine and good food, and a friend to almost all who met him. His laugh, quirky sense of humor, and engaging presence will be missed by many.

Jerry, a Rahway native, was a member of one of RC's first graduating classes. He continued his education at St. Francis University, where he and Barb met. After getting married in 1970, Jerry and Barbara lived in Scotch Plains, NJ, before settling in Fairfield, CT, where they lived for over 40 years.

Jerry enjoyed a long and successful career in reinsurance, ultimately retiring as Vice Chairman of Berkley Facultative Reinsurance Services. Often referred to as the original “FACMAN”, Jerry was known by his peers as an empathetic leader and disciplined underwriter.

Jerry's connection to RC is long and distinguished. It culminated with him receiving our top alumni honor, You Make A Difference Award, which is bestowed upon an alumnus, who, over an extended period of time, made a great impact on the Roselle Catholic community and, more importantly, its students. Jerry and Barb have been extremely generous to RC and are directly responsible for countless underprivileged children getting the opportunity to attend RC.

It is in that vein that the King and Cullen Families have started the Jerry King Memorial Scholarship Fund. This Endowed Scholarship Fund, the first of its kind at RC, will ensure that an impactful amount of need-based tuition aid is distributed to students each year.
