Taniya Hanner from the Lady Lions Basketball team has had a wonderful start to her senior year. After signing her official National Letter of Intent to play collegiate basketball at the Division I level at University of Albany, Taniya has helped lead the RC Girls team to some big victories already this season. Most recently, on Tuesday, January 15, Hanner grabbed a rebound and scored the putback in the team’s league matchup against Westfield. This basket marked Taniya’s 1000th career high school point for the RC Lady Lions, a mark that has only been achieved by 4 other RC Girls Basketball players to date. Since the scoring milestone was done on the road, the school and team will be honoring Taniya with a pregame ceremony prior to the team’s next home game, which is currently set for Feb 2 vs Notre Dame High School as part of the annual Richel Memorial Hoopfest hosted at RC. Tip Off is 12 pm, and the ceremony will begin prior to the starting lineups.
